LD Alena Family was created by Swiss designer Roland Stieger. It is the first comprehensive type design by the well-known creator of numerous award winning graphic design projects. The starting point of his sans serif Alena project was a number of woodcuts by Jost Hochuli (published in 1980) showing capitals, which are based on the proportion of the Roman monumental inscription of the first and second centuries AD. The minuscules are based on a late form of the humanist minuscule. In this sense LD Alena is a contemporary classic. The glyph set supports all European Latin languages for professional use in multi-language typography. Additional glyphs such as various figure sets, alternates for «a» and «g» or a set of basic symbols and arrows make the Alena Family suitable for many different fields of high-quality typesetting.
