The first thoughts Kai Büschl spent on modern style typefaces go back to the days he was a student. The LD Moderne Antiqua type family is a classic typeface with a different approach in the design concept. A little part of a journey through type history: As our ancestors did in the old times of industrialisation he didn’t only design a thickened variation as a related bold face, but a real slab-serif to take this part. The Moderne Antiqua typeface family is designed as a group of six weights, each with a dedicated italic version. The first three of them — Display, Subhead and Regular — are meant to be used as optical sizes, which is extremely important for reading and the aesthetic performance of high contrast type designs. The Medium, Bold and Heavy weights are essentially for emphasising in longer texts. The LD Moderne Antiqua Family offers Pan-European language support, six figure sets, small caps, fractions and much more.
